Hi my name is Julianna Brewer and I'm very interested in the amish culture I love to read articles and books by Beverly Lewis on the plain life. I was wondering if anyone knew of a amish girl around fourteen who would like a pen pal to write to. If you knew of anyone it would be great if you could email me. Thank you so much!

So, is an Amish person running this blog? It might sound like a stupid question, but I'm rather curious.

Was this broadcast on TV? If so....I sadly missed it and hope it will be broadcast again along with the other two books in the triology. I am heartsick I missed seeing this movie. Will it be shown again and can you let me know?
Thanks so much,
Cindy

Beverly Lewis is my favorite author so I was quite pleased to see Michael Landon Jr. had made another Amish movie. My family is from the northern Indiana Amish, so I did notice some variances from community to community. Katie Lapp wore buttons and not straight pins. The Amish men didn't were the bowl shaped haircuts, and Mom and Dat had on wedding bands. Laura's husband did as many do and pronounced Amish with the long "A". The movie itself was done well and I look for to the rest of the trilogy.

To the Amish: As time flies by on the wings of the wind; we think of you often and send you thoughts of goodness to lift
the weight of pain.
Your community, your actions, and the
lifestyle of your entire group show the simplicity and goodness of life to the world. You were able to show light above the darkness that was cast into your world by the action of one person.
Yea, ye were able to show the goodness of
God's love above your own personal grief by
extending forgiveness.
As time flows on through the seasons of life and change: your walking with and toward The Son has been able to cast the shadows behind you.
You witness to the world a way to live Life. With the chaotic changes that have
occurred in America and the world in the last two and a half years; your lives stand
as a beacon of light for those lost in the
darkness.
 May God Bless you all.

The authors of the book describing the Amish school shooting of 10 Amish girls and the Amish themselves are displeased with the movie Amish Grace. They believe their true story should not be fictionalized. Yet, fiction is an art form that does more than entertain. It also communicates a message and values.

For the true story one should read the book Forgiveness Transcended Tragedy – a good idea for any movie based on a book. The fact is many will only watch the movie.

In my opinion, it is the best movie I have seen in a long, long time. God prioritizes forgiveness highly. It is little understood in a culture that has largely lost its Biblical grounding. The fictionalized character who struggles with forgiveness is someone most of us “in the world” can identify with and through her journey and the witness of her people come to better understand and accept it.

The killer meant his act as vengeance toward God. God glories in bringing good out of evil. The amazing testimony of forgiveness and compassion demonstrated by the Amish at the time of the incident and the message communicated by the movie brings glory to God. Is not that what He expects from His people?

I recently discovered your blog/website and have truly enjoyed reading this and some of your other posts. I thought I would dive out from the shadows and leave my first comment. I am not sure what to say other than I've enjoyed reading and will continue to visit as typically as I can.
